Freedom!

"The Union for blue striped people... not very well treated."

It seems that I can finally agree with this guy right here: I have FREEDOM! I recently moved out of the roof of my parents and finally got back out into apartment living, thank God! It really is a aesthetically pleasing little apartment, its about 700 sq. ft, hardwood flooring, full size garage with storage and a small patio. It’s really everything a bachelor could possibly need. I am well pleased and completely blessed. The only thing that ends up becoming a problem is me trying to budget.

Finally I am noticing that I am not as good with money as I had previously imagined. Can anyone concur? (Well not with me not being good with money, but just with not being good with money in general?) From the deposit for my electricity, to the installation fee for my internet to groceries, I feel like I am just constantly have large sums of money being siphoned from my wallet! It’s really not a very pleasant feeling I assure you! However, I know that everything will work out for good, and I have so much to be thankful for! I am finally in my own place! No family, no roommates, no screaming babies! This is truly what God intended to be heaven on earth!

This has really been what has been happening in my life lately, just getting everything ready for the move and then making sure everything was right and in order. Continue to pray for me as I deal with the struggles of ministry and school and now budgeting because your prayers are always coveted! And I will have pictures of the new apartment very soon!

Don’t Cite Me On This.

Unlike an affluent writer in every sense of its meaning.

“Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,”

This quote by Edgar Allen Poe was in my head today. Not in a small quiet moment but LOUD and ALARMING during a prolonged series of events in my day. Why? Well that my friends is quite a good question. I do believe that for some reason, our society has become obsessed with quotes. In fact, merely for the fact that this quote was first in this blog was the reason you happened upon it! I wouldn’t doubt that for a second! We as a society have an obsession for text surrounded by quotations. Why? Well, I think that we merely like to think that if someone quotes someone else it makes them smarter, but in reality, have I really tied in that quote into a single thing I have said yet?! No. Not really. All I have done is suppose to you that the quote is there merely to be… there. It has no point!

Why do we need to quote others. Might I suppose this to each and every one you? What is to stop those things that YOU say from becoming a quote? It might be for the instance that we say far too much and that in the ramblings of nonsensical slurring’s our slight philosophical notions might, in a sense, be submerged below what could only be described as meaningless drabble.

Now, when I say this, please don’t think that I am in any excusing myself of this, in fact I might be one of the greatest practicers of this very thing which I am demeaning (if in fact you could not tell that at times I can be very long winded). I can turn one small addition, meaning to be a slight comment or opinion, into a very behemoth debate. Which as you probably surmised places me in not very few incredibly awkward situations. Which I must say has been happening much more as of late that I would most care to acknowledge.

All this to say, let us allow ourselves, and by that I mean let us use the time this week to put into practice refraining from extraneous speech. That those things which are in our minds that might actually contain very vital and inquisitive value may surface and thereby encourage not less speech amongst ourselves, but BETTER speech.

But, to leave you with another quote let me perhaps give this: it is a quote by Leonardo da Vinci, and I hope he would forgive me for taking it out of context, but in this light let us realize that “In simplicity, beauty is allowed to take it’s own form.” – (that you can quote me on.)

All Bets Are ON.

Read it. Live it. Enjoy it.

So I decided to make a bet today. Normally I am not exactly a betting man but today I made that exception. What was the bet you might ask? Well I bet a friend today that I could gain a following online. Why the cockiness you might ask? To prove a point. To everything there is a system. To everything a plan is set. I think that if you present a simple idea in a creative way people will become intrigued! This is the very reason I follow the people and groups that I do, I can only suggest that this is the very same reason many of you follow the people and groups you follow as well. Something about what they do, some small niche that they have, it drew you in, mostly this is due to luck. Sometimes talent but mostly luck. So here I am, throwing my dice at the large table of fame and happenstance. So, here is where you come in: if you enjoy what you read/see/hear/whatever retweet it, repost it, blog it, stumble it, digg it, do whatever it is that you do to those things that you tend to like.

Moving on.

Today was my nieces 1st birthday today! I doubt she will ever remember the gifts we brought her or the people that showed up but nevertheless we were happy she enjoyed herself and look forward to the many wonderful years that we will spend with her! Her name is Sam:

Cuteness incarnate I know.

Yes, yes, I realize that she is more adorable that most can handle yet look upon her cute face and realize that all is well in the world and that all can be made to happen for good! Anyway. Tomorrow is Overflow. If you live within the Houston area I would highly suggest you try to make it. You will not regret it. If you want more information please check out the link to the Overflow website in the links section.

Oh yeah, Superbowl. Go Packers.

Done.
